What we believe
A child’s earliest memories are deeply personal. DearBaby is built so that your family — and only your family — decides who sees them. Your vault is private by default, and nothing is ever shared publicly.
How sharing works
Sharing is invite-only. You choose who joins your family circle — a partner, grandparents, or trusted family — and you can change access at any time. There is no public feed, no followers, and no discovery by strangers.
What we don’t do
We don’t show ads against your family’s moments, and we don’t sell your personal data. DearBaby is not a social network, and your memories are never the product.
Where your memories live
Your photos, videos, and notes are kept in secure cloud storage so they’re safe even if a device is lost or replaced. Your memories travel with your account, not a single phone.
Your controls
You can manage your family circle, review your account, and delete your account and associated data at any time from within the app.
Data we need to run DearBaby
To provide the service, DearBaby stores your account details and the content you choose to save. We use this information to operate your vault, sync across your devices, and support your account — not to build advertising profiles.
Information we collect
When you use DearBaby, we may collect the following types of information:
- Account information, such as your email address
- Baby profile information (name, date of birth) — provided voluntarily
- User-generated content, including photos, videos, voice memos, notes, letters, and milestones
- App usage and diagnostic data used for performance, stability, and security
DearBaby does not collect sensitive personal data unrelated to the app’s core functionality.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to operate DearBaby’s features, securely store and display your memories, sync content across your devices, improve performance and reliability, and send essential service communications such as account confirmations or security alerts.
We do not sell your data. We do not show advertising. We do not use your data for third-party marketing or cross-app tracking.
Data storage & security
Your data is stored in secure, encrypted cloud infrastructure with strict access controls. Your vault is private by default — only authenticated users can access their own data. We follow industry-standard security practices to protect your information.
Data sharing & third parties
We never sell your data, and we never share it for advertising or profiling. We do rely on a small number of infrastructure providers to run the service, and we would rather name them than describe them vaguely.
- Supabase — hosts our database and handles sign-in. Your account details and the entries you save are stored here.
- Oracle Cloud Infrastructure — stores your photos, videos and voice recordings as encrypted objects. Files are served through links that expire.
- Stripe — processes payments if you subscribe. Card details go to Stripe directly and we never see or store them.
- Apple — if you subscribe through the App Store, Apple handles that purchase under its own privacy policy, and we only receive confirmation that the subscription is active.
Each of these receives only what it needs to do its job. We may also disclose data where the law requires it.
This website itself loads nothing from anyone else. There is no analytics script, no advertising pixel, no external font, no tag manager and no third-party video on these pages, so simply reading this site sends your details to no third party at all. The short films are our own, served from our own domain. The signed-in account pages talk only to our own Supabase backend.
Children’s privacy
DearBaby is intended for parents and caregivers, not for children. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children under 13. Any baby-related information stored in DearBaby is provided voluntarily by a parent or legal guardian.
Data retention & deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app, or by emailing info@dearbaby.co.uk. Upon verification, your personal data is permanently deleted. We retain data only as long as necessary to provide the service or as required by law.
Android launch notifications
If you ask us to tell you when the Android app is ready, we store your email address, the date you asked, and a few coarse details about how you found us: your browser’s timezone and language, the site that referred you, and any campaign tag in the link you clicked. We use the email once, to send that one email, and you can unsubscribe at any time. We do not add it to any other mailing list, and we do not share it with anyone.
We do not ask for or store your location, your IP address, or your device details, and this form never triggers a location prompt.
In-app privacy disclosure
A link to this Privacy Policy is available within the DearBaby app, including in Settings and during account creation.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date.
